The United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps (Sea Cadets) is the Navy’s youth development program.
Building Leaders Through Seabee Spirit and Service
Formed in 2011, Polaris Battalion serves youth ages 10–18 from across northern Minnesota as part of the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps. Drilling in Cambridge, MN, the battalion provides cadets with hands-on training that builds leadership, discipline, and teamwork. Younger cadets, ages 10–14, train aboard Training Ship Trident, where they develop foundational skills and prepare to advance into the battalion.
Polaris Battalion emphasizes Seabee-style training, focusing on construction, engineering, and hands-on technical projects that mirror the vital work of the U.S. Navy’s Construction Battalions. Cadets gain experience in planning, problem-solving, and field operations—learning to build, lead, and serve with integrity. Through these experiences, they develop the confidence and practical skills to excel both within the program and in their future careers.

Leadership
About the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps
The U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps (USNSCC) is a premier youth leadership program for ages 10 through 17. It instills honor, discipline, and a commitment to service. Sponsored by the Navy League of the United States and supported by the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard, this nationally recognized program provides cadets with unique, real-world military training. With 380 units across the country, the Sea Cadets offer a structured environment where young leaders build confidence, teamwork, and a strong sense of duty.
Cadets can explore a wide range of training opportunities, including scuba diving, medical training, photojournalism, military police, STEM, and sailing. These hands-on experiences help cadets develop valuable skills while learning to lead their peers. As a result, they gain the confidence and discipline needed for success in both military and civilian careers. Whether they choose to serve in the armed forces or follow another path, Sea Cadets graduate with the leadership and work ethic to excel in any field.
Mission
The mission of the United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps is to build leaders of character by imbuing in our cadets the highest ideals of honor, respect, commitment, and service.
